The story behind RN Solutions

From an idea on a trip in Europe to global success with a focus on productivity and energy savings in agriculture
RN Solutions was founded by director and farmer Rune Q. Nielsen in 2013/2014, and has since made a name for itself as a frontrunner in the development of energy savings in pig production and agriculture. From the very beginning, RN Solutions' mindset has been that with a little North Jutland "ingenuity" and a business model that focuses on productivity versus investment, you can be successful on a global scale.
The idea for RN Solutions came into being when Rune discovered during a trip to Europe that in some countries the sows in the paddocks had been overlit and that this had improved the sows' reproduction. Rune thought that it could be done even better, and this resulted in the development of the lighting concept SowLight, where LED luminaires could easily be mounted directly on the fixture via special connectors.
SowLight quickly became popular among farmers in Denmark, as they could install the fixtures themselves with Plug'N Play™ cables. The concept quickly developed to include other barn types in pig production as well as for cattle, poultry, workshops and construction sites.
Today, RN Solutions' lighting concepts are found in over 20 countries worldwide, and the SowLight concept now illuminates over 1 million lakes. RN Solutions also established its own production in China in 2017, to ensure uniform quality, stable production and rapid development of new products.
All the lighting products from RN Solutions are durable, have a good light, are easy to install and have reasonable prices. The vast majority of products can also be used in harsh environments such as stable buildings and the food industry, are extremely easy to clean and are certified for sale in Europe, China and North America.
RN Solutions delivers both directly to farmers and customers, but also to electrical installers and retailers. The range includes both lighting products for self-assembly and permanent installations by professionals.
Today, RN Solutions consists of eight employees, of which the majority of employees are located at the head office in Støvring, and where a smaller part can be found at the production in China.

Own products
RN Solutions has developed a large number of its own products from scratch at the company's address in Støvring, but it also sells the Phillips product ONCE by Signify, which is among the market's best-known solutions for poultry houses.
But the advice is also important so that the light is set up and adjusted optimally in the barn, which is why RN Solutions is with you all the way from the farmer or the electrical installer making contact until the first light falls on the animals.
-We are very specialized in controlling the light within agriculture, and here we can be an important player for the local electrical installer, who typically does not have the detailed knowledge of how the right light can optimize production in the stables, explains Rune Qvist Nielsen about the reason for the employment of Jacob Michaelsen, who will primarily be responsible for sales and advice in Central Jutland, North Jutland and Funen.

Five-year warranty
Ordinary lighting fixtures are often not approved for agriculture because ammonia from animal husbandry irritates the electronics - even if the fixture is tight. But there are also other practical conditions that apply to a farm, which is why director Rune Qvist Nielsen's own experiences as a farmer play an important role in the development of the smart lighting.
For if there is anything that life as a pig producer has taught Rune Qvist Nielsen, it is that the light source in the barn must be robust, so in the products from RN Solutions, the electronics have been given a special coating and the fixtures have the highest tightness class, and therefore Jacob Michaelsen is completely comfortable selling the lighting solutions with a full 5-year guarantee
-Our products are specially made to be able to withstand the stable environment and for harsh industry, and most LED fittings are IP69K-approved, and they are because our products have been created to be able to cope with a harsh environment with both ammonia and cleaning with a high-pressure cleaner, explains Jacob Michaelsen.
