Economic Savings and Improved Work Environment

Director of Emborg Catering, Søren Mernild: 'We previously had challenges with the durability of the lighting in our freezer facility. We are pleased that, together with our electrician, we found RN Solutions and these freezer fixtures, which can withstand very low temperatures. Plus, they provide great lighting.'”

UV light

What types are there:

  • UV-A light helps regulate behaviors such as feeding, circadian rhythm, mating, and similar activities for reptiles, rabbits, lizards, and birds, such as poultry.
  • UV-B light enables the synthesis of vitamin D (D3), which helps with calcium absorption.
  • UV-C light is not necessary for animals, but it can help kill bacteria (disinfection). - It is important to note that at high levels of exposure, this light can be harmful to animals and humans.

UV-B light

Applications and benefits for poultry and birds

UV-B light, a type of ultraviolet light with wavelengths between 280-315 nanometers, has a range of applications in agriculture, including barn environments. This light is known for its ability to promote health and growth in animals by simulating natural sunlight, which may be limited in enclosed barns.

Benefits of UV-B light in barns:

  • Improved Animal Health:
    - UV-B light helps animals synthesize vitamin D, which is essential for their bone health and immune system. Sufficient levels of vitamin D can prevent diseases such as osteoporosis and improve overall well-being.
  • Reduction of Harmful Microorganisms:
    - UV-B light has antimicrobial properties that can help reduce the levels of harmful bacteria and viruses in barns, lowering the risk of disease outbreaks among livestock.

Unfortunately, UV-B light is still very costly in terms of purchase, energy, and installation.

RN Solutions is working with its "sister company" NewRoniX to develop new, less energy-intensive lamps specifically for agriculture and the agro-industry.
